GB Politics is a public-information site. You can read it without an account and without telling us who you are.

What we collect

  • Server logs. Our servers keep standard technical logs (such as the requested page, a truncated IP address and browser type) to run the site securely and diagnose faults. These are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
  • Analytics (only if you accept). We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, in aggregate. It does not run and sets no cookies unless you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you decline, or ignore it, nothing is loaded. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer.
  • Email, only if you give it. If in future you choose to subscribe to updates, we will use your email address only to send what you asked for, with confirmation first and an unsubscribe link every time.

Advertising

We show ads to keep the site free to read. Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure their performance, and, where permitted, personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites.

You are in control. In the UK and Europe, Google asks for your consent before showing personalised ads. You can review or change that choice, and opt out of personalised advertising entirely, in Google's Ad Settings or at aboutads.info. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is set out in Google's own policy.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, and we don't build advertising profiles of you ourselves. The only advertising profiling is done by Google, as described above, and you can turn it off.

Third parties

The site is delivered through a content-delivery network for speed and security, which processes requests on our behalf. Ads are served by Google AdSense, and Google acts as an independent controller for the advertising data it collects. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics processes aggregate usage data as our processor; Google's own privacy terms then apply. Map tiles on constituency pages are served by OpenStreetMap and CARTO. Data shown on the site comes from the official sources listed on our licence page.
