The story so farThe Infrastructure (Financial Assistance) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 6 September 2012 by Mr George Osborne (Conservative). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Infrastructure (Financial Assistance) Act 2012, receiving Royal Assent on 31 October 2012.

What the bill does

<p>The Bill allows the Government to provide financial assistance of up to &pound;50 billion in support of infrastructure investment. This limit could be increased by order. </p><p>The Government would have to report to Parliament at the end of each financial year on any commitments made under the Bill&rsquo;s provisions.</p>
