The story so farThe Deep Sea Mining Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 19 June 2013 by Sheryll Murray (Conservative). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Deep Sea Mining Act, receiving Royal Assent on 14 May 2014.

What the bill does

Third reading - the final chance for the Lords to change the Bill - took place on 18 March and no amendments were made. <br><br>As both Houses have agreed on the text of the Bill it now waits for the final stage of Royal Assent when the Bill will become an Act of Parliament. A date for Royal Assent has yet to be set.
