The story so farThe Armed Forces (Service Complaints and Financial Assistance) Bill was introduced in the House of Lords on 5 June 2014 by Lord Astor of Hever (Conservative). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Armed Forces (Service Complaints and Financial Assistance) Act 2015, receiving Royal Assent on 26 March 2015.

What the bill does

The Bill would improve and strengthen the Service Complaints system by transforming the existing Service Complaints Commissioner into a new Service Complaints Ombudsman. It also contains provisions relating to financial assistance for the armed forces community.
