The story so farThe Public Sector Buildings (Energy Performance) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 5 December 2007 by Anne Snelgrove (Labour). It is now at second reading in the House of Commons. Second reading is the first debate on the overall principle of the bill; if the bill clears it, detailed committee scrutiny follows.

What the bill does

This Bill would require buildings newly procured by central Government to have a class A or B Energy Performance Certificate, calculated on the basis of information obtained within the previous 12 months.
