The story so farThe Fuel Poverty Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 21 January 2009 by Mr David Heath (Liberal Democrat). It is now at second reading in the House of Commons. What the bill does
<p>The provisions of the Bill would </p><ul><li>require the Government to introduce an energy efficiency programme to bring existing homes up to current energy efficiency levels <br></li><li>impose a duty on energy suppliers to offer social tariffs to limit vulnerable households’ exposure to high energy bills <br></li><li>reinforce the legal duty on the Government to act to end fuel poverty.</li></ul>
