A Bill to make provision about the sentencing, release and management after sentencing of offenders; to make provision about bail; to make provision about the removal from the United Kingdom of foreign criminals; and for connected purposes.

The story so farThe Sentencing Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 2 September 2025 by Shabana Mahmood (Labour). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Sentencing Act 2026, receiving Royal Assent on 22 January 2026.
