The story so farThe Sunbeds (Regulation) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 16 December 2009 by Julie Morgan (Labour). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, receiving Royal Assent on 8 April 2010.

What the bill does

The Bill will place a duty on sunbed businesses to prevent use of sunbeds by under-18s and to provide for local authority enforcement of this duty. It gives Ministers powers to make regulations imposing further conditions on commercial sunbed use. These include requirements for supervision, provision of information on health risks, and eye protection.
