The story so farThe Pedicabs Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 18 January 2010 by Mr Mark Field (Conservative). It is now at second reading in the House of Commons. Second reading is the first debate on the overall principle of the bill; if the bill clears it, detailed committee scrutiny follows.

What the bill does

The Bill would make provision for the control of pedicabs, defined in the Bill as a 'cycle constructed or adapted to seat one or more passengers, for the purpose of carrying passengers in the course of a business'. The Bill’s provisions would include licensing and registration of pedicabs, the maximum number of passengers to be carried, reporting of accidents and display of advertisements.
