The story so farThe Electoral Law (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 5 July 2010 by Mr Peter Bone (Conservative). It is now at second reading in the House of Commons. What the bill does
<p>The Bill would amend Schedule 1 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 to provide that at the close of the poll in a general election, by-election or local government election, electors who were entitled to vote and within the precincts of the polling station would have to be issued with a ballot paper and allowed to vote. </p><p>It would be the responsibility of the Presiding Officer or Returning Officer to determine the limits of the precincts of a particular polling station.</p>
