Savings Accounts and Health in Pregnancy Grant Act 2010

To make provision about eligibility for a child trust fund; to repeal the Saving Gateway Accounts Act 2009; to make provision about entitlement to health in pregnancy grant; and for connected purposes.

The story so farThe Savings Accounts and Health in Pregnancy Grant Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 15 September 2010 by Mr George Osborne (Conservative). It completed its passage through Parliament and became law as the Savings Accounts and Health in Pregnancy Grant Act 2010, receiving Royal Assent on 16 December 2010.

What the bill does

<p>This Bill gives effect to decisions made as part of the initial review of public expenditure undertaken soon after the 2010 General Election. </p><p>Three schemes introduced by the previous Labour Government &ndash; the Child Trust Fund; the Saving Gateway; and the Health in Pregnancy Grant &ndash; are deemed to be unaffordable by the Coalition Government and will be brought to a close by the provisions of the Bill.</p>
