The story so farThe Succession to the Crown Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 18 January 2011 by Keith Vaz (Labour). It is now at second reading in the House of Commons. What the bill does
At present, the Crown passes to male heirs ahead of female heirs. The Bill would amend the Act of Settlement 1700 to remove any distinction between the sexes in determining succession to the Crown.
