NATIONAL LOTTERY

Tabled by Sir Michael Marshall (Conservative) 65 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the considerable sums of money that will be raised by the National Lottery which is likely to raise hundreds of millions of pounds in the first five years; therefore urges Her Majesty's Government to give preference in awarding the licence to operate the National Lottery to those companies or foundations which, while competitively demonstrating their ability to maximise income, will donate all their profits after the deduction of reasonable and proper expenses to worthwhile causes, as happens in other countries. (Relevant registered interest declared).
