NATIONAL LOBBY AGAINST JOBSEEKERS BILL

Tabled by Mr John Denham (Labour) 96 signatures

The motion

That this House congratulates the National Local Government Forum Against Poverty for organising a lobby of Parliament against the Jobseekers Bill on Tuesday 23 May; shares the forum's belief that the Bill is a major threat to the security of thousands of sick and disabled people, reduces entitlement to non-means tested benefits, despite recent increases in national insurance contributions, reduces the incentive for partners of unemployed people to take part-time work and will force unemployed people into jobs with low pay, poor conditions and little security; and calls on the Government to drop this Bill.
