BAN ON ARMS SALES TO NIGERIA

That this House notes that Britain is still selling military equipment to Nigeria despite the continuation of military rule following the annulment of presidential elections held in Nigeria on 12th June 1993; calls on the Government to impose a complete ban on the sale of lethal and non-lethal military equipment to that country; and asks the Government to work vigorously for similar action by the European Union until democratic civilian rule is established.
