The motion
That this House notes that the Secretary of State for Scotland has finally acceded to the demand for an inquiry into the conduct of Monklands District Council made by 110 honourable Members in Early Day Motion 527 tabled on 3rd February 1994; regrets the excessive delay on the part of the Secretary of State in setting up an inquiry; believes his dereliction of duty was aimed at achieving party political gain rather than addressing a matter of urgent public concern; and deplores his irresponsibility and abuse of his office.
