CONDUCT OF LORD TEBBIT AND EDUCATION IN WARWICKSHIRE

Tabled by Mr Mike O'Brien (Labour) 61 signatures

The motion

That this House condemns the description of Warwickshire mums, dads, children, teachers and school governors who protested against school cuts in London on 25th March contained in a newspaper article by Lord Tebbit as `rent a gob mob' and `hordes of dirty, filthy, ill kempt, foul mouthed creatures' and informs the noble Lord that many of the people recognisable at the forefront of the picture captioned `March menace' a re ordinary, decent people from Warwickshire, some of whom had never demonstrated before and were of all political persuasions and were expressing concern about school cuts, which have been condemned by Conservative honourable Members and councillors as well as Labour and Liberal Democrats; and demands an immediate apology be given by the noble Lord to the parents he has so appallingly abused in a national newspaper for caring about their children's education.
