CYPRUS AND EUROPEAN UNION

That this House welcomes the decision of the European Union Foreign Ministers to agree that negotiations for the entry of Cyprus to the Union can begin on a date six months after the conclusion of the next Inter Governmental Conference; commends the positive and constructive role played in achieving this commitment by President Clerides and the Cyprus Government; and calls upon the Turkish Government to end the division of Cyprus and work for a peaceful and lasting solution for the people of Cyprus.
