BBC "On the Record" Poll

Tabled by Sir Fergus Montgomery (Conservative) 80 signatures

The motion

That this House, noting that the BBC carried out a poll of conservative candidates following the local government elections, the results of which revealed extremely favourable attitudes towards the Prime Minister's leadership, is alarmed that this poll has not been released by the BBC on the grounds, specifically rejected by the Harris Research Centre which carried out the poll, of "insufficient size of sample"; and calls on the BBC to stop suppressing the results of the poll, publish it immediately, and in future desist from the practice of commissioning opinion polls purely for the purpose of manufacturing news stories.
