TRANSPORT OF LIVE ANIMALS FOR SLAUGHTER

Tabled by Michael Stephen (Conservative) 55 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the continuing evidence from the RSPCA of the suffering of animals transported live for slaughter in Europe; further notes that Brittany Ferries condemned the livestock exporters' 'flagrant breaches' of their code of conduct; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to press for a speedy decision by the EU Agriculture Council, and to support a maximum journey time for slaughter animals, backed by tough and uniform enforcement throughout the European Union.
