ACTION ON BREAST CANCER

Tabled by Mr Malcolm Chisholm (Labour) 79 signatures

The motion

That this House congratulates the Scottish Breast Cancer Campaign for collecting 150,000 signatures on its petition and organising a lobby of Parliament on Tuesday 7th February; supports the requests of the petition for greater support for specialist breast units to deal with breast cancer and a big increase in government funding for breast cancer research; is appalled that the United Kingdom has the highest mortality rate for breast cancer in the world and that it is the biggest single killer of women between 35 and 49 years of age; and calls on the Government to ensure that the best treatment is available to all women and that high priority is given to breast cancer research.
