BANGLADESH ELECTIONS ON JUNE 12th 1996

That this House congratulates the people of Bangladesh on their mass participation in, and their orderly conduct of the parliamentary elections on 12th June; notes with satisfaction the unanimous conclusion of the independent British, European, Commonwealth and American observers there that the elections were free and fair; thanks the caretaker Government in Dhaka for the excellent electoral arrangements that they made; and expresses its strong wish that the Bangladesh political parties will accept the verdict of the polls and that the majority party and its leader will now be called upon to form the newly-elected government of Bangladesh.
