PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO FUTURE OF GARTCOSH

That this House notes with approval the call by the honourable Member for Monklands West for a public inquiry into the proposal by Powergen for a gas fired power plant at Gartcosh; and in the light of the important economic and environmental considerations involved fully supports the honourable Member for Monklands West and calls on the Secretary of State for Scotland to announce a public inquiry at the earliest possible date.
