CROSSING THE HOUSING AND CARE DIVIDE

Tabled by Sir Andrew Bowden (Conservative) 48 signatures

The motion

That this House recognises older people's desire to stay in control of their lives and maximise their independence; understands that complementary and joint working between housing, health and social care providers in the planning, assessment and delivery of services is a key to independent living; believes that integrated housing and care policies which focus on the needs of the individual should be promoted nationally and locally; notes the difficulty of overcoming barriers to projects that cut across housing and care; and congratulates Anchor Housing Association and the Housing Corporation on their joint funding initiative, Crossing the Housing and Care Divide, to encourage innovation in community care and housing services for older people.
