CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR WELWYN AND HATFIELD

That this House is appalled at the remarks made by the honourable Member for Welwyn Hatfield to pupils within his constituency; agrees with the Sun that his remarks on women honourable Members, black people and his election opponent 'show clearly that he is no longer fit to remain an MP'; congratulates his Labour opponent, Melanie Johnson, on her measured response in focusing on his offensive remarks about her children; and believes that the voters of Welwyn Hatfield will fulfil the wishes of the Sun, women, black people and millions of our citizens who condemn bigotry and campaigning based on personal slurs by ensuring that Melanie Johnson will represent their interests in this House following the election.
