CONDUCT OF THE RIGHT HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR WOKINGHAM

Tabled by Mr Tony McWalter (Labour (Co-op)) 15 signatures

The motion

That this House notes with grave concern reports that despite a prima facie conflict of interest the Right honourable Member for Wokingham did not withdraw from discussion of competition policy when British Airways took over Dan Air despite the fact that his wife was Company Secretary of British Airways and reportedly directly involved in lobbying to halt any referral of the takeover to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission; further notes that the Right honourable Member now speaks for the Conservative Party on trade and industry matters and calls upon him to make a full statement about his role as Minister of Corporate Affairs at the time of the Dan Air takeover and to declare what his policy will be on matters of aviation policy when the potential for conflict of interest still so clearly exists.
