The motion
That this House calls on the Liberal Democrat-controlled Cornwall County Council to act immediately to resolve the problems affecting hundreds of Cornwall Care residents; notes that the County Council took the decision to form a new charity, Cornwall Care, to run the 18 former local authority residential homes despite being informed that the only way they could reach financial targets was by cuts to staff members' pay and terms and conditions, and that the recent decision by the Industrial Tribunal in the staff's favour has left residents, their relatives and staff, both old and new, uncertain and worried for the future; calls on the controlling group in Cornwall County Council to act now to safeguard the future of residents and the homes; and calls on the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions to investigate the authority's decisions.
