CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR ALDERSHOT

The motion
That this House condemns the ignorance and prejudice displayed by the honourable Member for Aldershot in remarks he made recently which are an insult to Liverpool and its people and business community and which discourage employers from investing in Liverpool and blame Liverpool people for the high levels of unemployment they suffer; and believes that instead of displaying the unthinking prejudice for which the Thatcherite wing of the Tory Party is well known, he should visit Liverpool where he can see for himself that the city and its people, in partnership with the business community, are creating new jobs and equipping local people to take the opportunities created.
