COMPETITION COMMISSION INQUIRY INTO THE ICE CREAM INDUSTRY

That this House notes that the Competition Commission has recently submitted its report to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry after a nine month long inquiry into the impulse ice cream industry; further notes that it is the fourth inquiry into the impulse ice cream industry in 20 years; recognises that Birds Eye Walls are a substantial constituency employer with 1,500 employees and a further 500 jobs within Walls Direct's contracted out sales and distribution network; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to make a swift and considered response to the Competition Commission report with a view to ending uncertainty in the ice cream industry.
