YOUNG CARERS

That this House expresses concern at the effect that caring can have on young children when left unsupported of impeding their personal and educational development; welcomes the recommendations for young carers contained in the National Carers Strategy; supports the view that more must be done by public authorities to address young carers and their families' difficulties; urges schools to take action to ensure teachers and staff are aware of young carers issues; urges schools to designate a link person to support young carers; urges all local authorities to review their procedures on supporting young carers; and seeks assurance from the Government that it will monitor the implementation of these recommendations.
