The motion
this House recognises that the personal testimony of those serving in the Suez Canal Zone between 8th October 1951 and 19th October 1954 demonstrates that this was an active service posting in a conflict zone; pays tribute to those servicemen who were killed or wounded in action in the Zone during this period; and urges the Government to encourage the Military Medals Committee to re-examine the case for awarding the General Service Medal to all those servicemen who served in the Suez Canal Zone and, in particular to: Mr Alf Pyott of Bramley in Rotherham, Mr Stan Roden of Rawmarsh in Rotherham, Mr Tony Rosse of the Brecks in Rotherham and Mr Keith Morte of the Brecks in Rotherham.
