CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR BILLERICAY AND THE FIRE SERVICE

Tabled by Mr Chris Pond (Labour) 60 signatures

The motion

That this House deplores the comments made by the honourable Member for Billericay recently describing Britain's Fire Service as 'one of the last of the dinosaur industries clinging to feather bedding, using shroud waving and blackmail to prevent the modernisation of the service'; considers such comments to be an insult to those who risk their own lives and safety for others; and deplores the honourable Member's call for privatisation of the Fire Service and a halving of its budget, which would place public safety at risk.
