ABOLITION OF POINDINGS AND WARRANT SALES

That this House commends the members of the Scottish Parliament who supported so overwhelmingly the introduction and first stage of the Abolition of Poindings and Warrant Sales Bill, sponsored by Mr Sheridan MSP, the honourable Member for Dundee East and Mr A McNeil MSP; notes with regret the hostile opposition of Conservative MSPs to this enlightened legislative measure; and looks forward to the day when the Scottish Parliament finally consigns to history the pernicious debt-recovery procedures of poindings and warrant sales.
