The motion

That this House reaffirms the right of all people to elect and hold accountable representatives in Parliament who are responsible for the conduct of all economic, social and industrial policies; rejects unreservedly the attempt being made by unelected officials in the European Union to dictate to the British Government which policies it must follow when these run counter to decisions reached by Parliament; warns that any country which adopts the European single currency, under the control of the Central Bank will, in effect, by reversing the gains made throughout Europe by the Labour, Trade Union and Socialist Movements during centuries of struggle to achieve democracy; and calls for the establishment of European co-operation based solely on the progressive harmonization of policies as agreed, from time to time, by the peoples and parliaments in the member states.
