The motion

That this House welcomes the Government's announcement that RUC widows whose husbands were murdered by terrorists before November 1982 will receive lump sum payments of ú2,000 for each year they have been widowed; supports the news that the lump sums are to be tax free; further notes that the sum of ú2,000 for each year widowed is twice the amount recommended by John Steele; and commends the Government for their recognition of the sacrifices made by RUC officers and their families.
