UNSOLICITED JUNK FAXES

Tabled by Mr Frank Roy (Labour) 103 signatures

The motion

That this House notes with concern the increasing amount of unsolicited junk faxes sent to both domestic and commercial premises; further notes that many adults and children unknowingly call premium rated numbers at a cost of ú1.50 per minute, and that the resulting fax-back time is often stated as no more than 200 seconds; is gravely concerned that despite asking to be permanently deleted from fax databases, many unsuspecting recipients continue to receive unsolicited faxes; and urges Her Majesty's Government to introduce further statutory controls against such an abuse of access.
