The motion
That this House is appalled at the revelation on the BBC Watchdog programme that Peugeot failed to issue a safety recall despite being aware of a spontaneous fire hazard in over 20,000 Peugeot 307 cars; notes technical advice that the nature of the fault in the ignition switch could leave people trapped inside their car during the fire because of consequent failure of the central locking system; calls upon the Government to ensure that the car company takes full, appropriate and urgent action to alert its customers, and to remedy the defects at its own cost; and calls for the strongest possible action to be taken against Peugeot should anyone suffer injury because of their neglect.
