THE CHESHIRE REGIMENT

That this House expresses its grave concern about the current proposals by the Ministry of Defence for the amalgamation of the Cheshire Regiment; notes that this Regiment has a long tradition and a local identity which is reflected in its strong recruitment from within the Cheshire County area and which supports its continued viability; and urges the Secretary of State to retain the Cheshire as a single regiment.
