PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS AND RENEWABLE ENERGY

That this House supports the Government's successive White Paper commitments to a 10-year solar photovoltaic (PV) demonstration programme in line with the UK's major competitors; welcomes the July openings of two new solar PV manufacturing facilities in Wrexham and County Durham by Sharp Electronics UK and Romag/BP respectively; and urges the Government to ensure continuity of support to the rapidly growing UK solar PV industry when the current three year DTI Major Demonstration Programme ends in March 2005.
