The motion
That this House notes the recent court decision to grant Lancashire County Council possession of Pollards Farm, Penwortham in the South Ribble constituency on 19th May, recognises that this follows over 10 years of concerted effort by Lancashire County Council and South Ribble Borough Council to prevent the illegal use of Pollards Farm as a milk processing and bottling plant; shares the relief of those living near Pollards Farm that many years of noise and nuisance will soon come to an end; notes that over 50 Lancashire dairy farmers face an uncertain future when Pollards Farm is repossessed as they will no longer have a contract to sell their milk; and calls upon Lancashire County Council, the North West Development Agency and the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to work with Lancashire dairy farmers and the NFU to find ways of minimising the impact on the Lancashire dairy industry of the closure of the processing and bottling plant at Pollards Farm.
