CARBON MONOXIDE DEATHS

The motion
That this House is deeply concerned over the number of deaths each year from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by gas appliances that have not been properly installed or serviced; is aware that many home owners and landlords do not know or are concerned about the dangers; calls upon the Government to introduce legislation to ensure that gas detectors and fire detectors are fitted to all new build properties and are connected to mains electrical supply; and calls on the Government to ensure that all properties are checked under existing legislation and to publicise the work of the campaign for carbon monoxide awareness and the Portsmouth News in their efforts to bring this hazard to the attention of the public especially students.
