ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF SIR EDWARD CARSON

The motion

Line 3, leave out from second 'of' to end and insert 'the United Kingdom; recognises that he was one of the most successful barristers of his generation and his considerable contribution to legal affairs as Solicitor General between 1900 and 1905; further notes his outstanding contribution to British political life as a Unionist MP for Trinity College 1892-1918 and the impact he made whilst serving in the Government, successively as Attorney General, First Lord of the Admiralty and in the War Cabinet; and therefore considers it more appropriate for the UK Government to mark this historic occasion that the Irish Republic.'
