WALVIS BAY

Tabled by Sir John Wheeler (Conservative) 5 signatures

The motion

leave out from 'Africa' to end and add 'also notes that on 2nd September 1977 Walvis Bay reverted back to administration by South Africa's Cape Province and that legally there can be no doubt as to South Africa's claim to Walvis Bay as it was formally annexed by Great Britain in 1878, incorporated into Cape Colony in 1884, and consolidated into the Union of South Africa in 1910; and finally notes that it was excluded from the League of Nations mandate and from South West Africa as an international territory and that any final change in the status of Walvis Bay must be a matter for negotiation between South Africa and Namibia.'.
