VAGRANCY ACT 1824

That this House identifies sections 3 and 4 of the Vagrancy Act 1824 as an anomaly whereby people who are unable to survive without recourse to peaceful begging may become liable to criminal prosecution; recognises that adequate criminal sanctions are available against begging accompanied by any form of threat or public disturbance whatsoever; draws attention to the high level of cross-party concern about this matter; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to repeal this redundant legislation.
