BRITISH AEROSPACE REDUNDANCIES

Tabled by Mr Michael Carr (Liberal Democrat) 7 signatures

The motion

That this House regrets the decision by British Aerospace to make large numbers of workers redundant; deplores the decision to transfer manufacturing capacity to factories outside the United Kingdom; regrets that these decisions relate to government-subsidised work; fears that there will be drastic effects in many areas including Ribble Valley, Hatfield and Stevenage; and calls upon the Government to ensure that steps are taken to protect the public purse from depredation as a result of the current manufacturing policy being pursued by British Aerospace and to secure the future.
