HMS LANCASTRIA

That this House recognises the 66th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Lancastria on 17th June 1940, with the loss of over 4,000 lives, off the French coastal town of St Nazaire; and supports and encourages efforts by the Ministry of Defence finally to secure the agreement of the French authorities to place a protection order on the site ensuring that the vessel's last resting place is officially recognised as a war grave.
