AFFORDABLE RURAL HOUSING COMMISSION

Tabled by Dr David Drew (Labour (Co-op)) 74 signatures

The motion

That this House welcomes the report of the Affordable Rural Housing Commission; strongly supports its main finding that a significant increase in affordable housing in rural communities should be delivered through the existing plan-led system; calls for measures to encourage local planning authorities to make better use of the planning powers they have to secure more affordable rural housing; agrees that funding for the provision of affordable housing should not depend on the approval of market housing in the same location; and urges the Government to publish its considered response to each of the Commission's recommendations at the earliest opportunity, indicating what action it proposes to take, by when and by whom.
