POST OFFICES AND TV LICENSING

That this House notes that it will no longer be possible to buy a television licence through local post offices from 31st July; further notes that the TV Licensing office is now using this to send out letters attempting to get licence holders to buy television licences by monthly direct debit; further notes that, by buying a television licence by this means, licence holders will be charged a further £5 per year over and above the cost of their licence; believes that this is unacceptable; and urges that the ability to buy licences at local post offices be reinstated.
