WIGWAM PLAYING FIELDS, HUCKNALL

That this House understands the significance of a covenant dated 1938 between Emily Ada Storey and Nottinghamshire County Council; notes that the covenant identifies the use of the Wigwam playing fields for no other purpose than that of playing fields, sports or recreation or pleasure grounds, park garden or permanent open space; believes, together with Hucknall residents, that this precludes significant housing development on the site; recognises the action taken by the people of Hucknall to preserve this continually used open space; and calls on the County Council's chosen developer, Coften Ltd, to withdraw its development plans until the legal status of the covenant is resolved.
