JUDGEMENT OF US SUPREME COURT ON MILITARY TRIBUNALS FOR GUANTANAMO BAY DETAINEES

The motion
That this House welcomes the ruling of the United States Supreme Court that the US Administration does not hold authority to try terrorism suspects by military tribunal under US domestic law and that such a policy would violate the Geneva Conventions; notes that most of the Guantanamo Bay detainees have now spent over four years with no idea of when they will have an opportunity to access a court of law; and calls on the US Administration promptly to close Guantanamo Bay and to provide all detainees with an opportunity to defend themselves before a proper court of law.
